Books we love

The one book that changed my life

When I was 18 years old, I was working in retail. Three months into the job, my manager Susana Morales one day sat me down, handed me a book and told me that she was coming in today to sack me but decided instead to buy me a book and told me that I was too hard to manage and asked me to go home and not come back till I’ve read it.

I was shocked, angry and embarrassed but I took the book and went home. Having dyslexia I had never read a book in full before. This book was How to make friends and influence people.

I read it in just one day and highlighted so many pages, it looked like a mess when I finished with it. It was a little old school because it was written in the 1930’s but the lessons are still applicable today.

At that point of my life, I desperately needed a lesson in EQ. It was a life changing experience and I am forever grateful to Susana for this gift.

Since that day, I have read hundreds of books on business, management and history.

Here are some other books which have influenced me and our team.
